Member agency on the value of housing counseling

Russell Graves of the National Foundation for Debt Management (NFDM) explains another side of housing counseling. In addition to the counseling services provided to clients, agencies are an "information bank". Since COVID-19, many people, often with no prior knowledge of how to get help, have counted on housing counselors to be a guide in navigating both the resources available to them and the procedures to access them.

Housing counseling agencies have continued to be an invaluable resource for the communities in which they serve. Prior to the pandemic, Graves says his agency averaged 2-3 rental assistances per year. Since the pandemic, NFDM has done over 400.

The Florida Housing Counselor Network is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
