Single Mother

Our client was running about 15 days behind on rent and she had to reduce hours at work due to pregnancy complications. Her landlord told her about the Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP) funds available with the City of Jacksonville. She applied that day and the landlord also responded to the ERAP funds. She was approved and the landlord received the money about 3 weeks later and caught her up and paid 3 months ahead due to her pregnancy and complete bed rest. Landlord gave the client a 3-day notice the day after she applied for ERAP funds. One of our Jacksonville Legal Aid attorneys assisted the client with a letter to the landlord and the threat of eviction stopped immediately. The client and baby are doing great and she is back to work and can pay her rent in a timely manner.
